Beco BWD info

Description:

Beco BWD is one of the most versatile soft structured carriers on today's market.

It was designed as a solution to a common challenge of the soft structured baby carriers, when shoulder straps were either too short for taller or larger parents or too long for petite parents.

The BWD Beco shoulder straps are a full 6” longer then our 4th generation Beco model. The new buckle placement behind the baby’s back provides the user with more versatility to adjust the shoulder straps length according to the user size and the baby’s weight.

BWD comfortably fits users under 5’ and over 6’ and everyone in between.

The new buckle/straps setting mimics the traditional Chinese Baby Carrier, Mei Tai. For smaller babies and younger kids, the top setting is the most appropriate, for it keeps the baby close to wearer’s body and provides better back support.

When the baby gets older and heavier, the lower setting is more comfortable since it keeps shifting the baby’s weight toward the Beco Carrier waist belt. From an ergonomics perspective, the waist is where humans are able to carry most of the load.

The system of buckle attachment does not poke the baby's back; there is just the right amount of soft padding between the baby and the buckles.

The BWD waist has been modified slightly, so now the side (hip) flaps come out in an angle, which provide better adjustability and more comfort.

The body of the carrier is little narrower then our 4th gen Beco to accommodate the new adjusting system and reduce the bulk. The general body size has remained the same: 15x18” (about 13” at the base).

The new adjusting system is constructed of a 2” wide and 7” long loop Velcro hidden under a twill strip in a coordinating Beco fabric. The strip is then divided into three 2” sections, for the female 1” buckles. These buckles are connected with a 1” hook and attach to each other with Velcro.

Our system is superior to other carriers in that the actual strength of this system does NOT depend on the touch tape system, but on the opposing force of the attached buckles.

The touch tape system serves only as a back up to prevent sliding of the fabric strip and in case of the complete loss of the removable buckle.
